What a set looks like before anything is called: where the dancers of one repeating unit stand, which way they look, who came with whom, and — for each arrangement a card can declare — who came as which role.

  Longways duple minor: two long lines up the hall, couples across, each minor set a couple facing a couple.

  The long lines with the facings alternated and nobody moved: neighbours by the right, the ones who exit a swing on the right looking in across the set.
